Taking a 600 MW power unit as an example, an evaluation was performed to relative effectiveness of its real-time operating data based on real-time operating efficiency model built up by data envelopment analysis using economic indicators reflecting operating efficiency of thermal power units, after which target values of relevant thermal parameters were put forward for the operating status with low relative efficiency. Results show that the method may serve as a reference for operation optimization of similar power units.

To provide suggestions for processing vacuum loss of differently-structured steam turbines and ensure safety operation of the turbine units, a triggering event caused by low vacuum of a condensing steam turbine is analyzed in-depth. In combination with structural features, a study is performed on difference of low vacuum trip among several types of steam turbines, after which the trip settings are obtained at different low vacuums. Treatment measures for vacuum loss of different steam turbines are finally proposed considering their actual operation conditions.

Considering the trend that petroleum coke might become the main power fuel due to the reduction of coal resources, combustion characteristics of petroleum coke and application achievements of petroleum coke-fired CFB boilers at home and abroad are introduced, focusing on the introduction of construction, commissioning and trial operation of a domestic CFB boiler using petroleum coke (applied in the Indian VC Power Plant). Results show that the petroleum coke can be completely used in a CFB boiler firing low-rank coal after local improvement and operation optimization. Various thermodynamic indexes of the petroleum coke-fired CFB boiler can reach their design values, which therefore is an important direction in the reclamation of petroleum coke.

The influence of fire accident on safety injection system of a nuclear power plant was analyzed according to its design principle and initiation signal, as well as the bypass function of reactor protection system, including real and spurious safety injection (SI) signals initiated by the fire. Upgrading suggestions and corresponding treatment measures were put forward from the aspects of fire zone partitioning, equipment arrangement, fire protection measures, system design and new operation procedures and so on. Analysis results show that these upgrades and treatments can effectively avoid the adverse effect of fire-induced SI on the unit operation, which therefore help to improve the stability and safety of unit operation in case of fire

To find the causes leading to ash blocking failure in a boiler air preheater, an analysis is performed on the layout and ammonia injection rate of its SCR system, sulfur content in the coal, and soot blowing way of the air preheater, etc., after which the failure is found to be caused by high ammonia escape rate of the denitration system, and subsequently corresponding countermeasures are put forward. Operation practice shows that the ash blocking problem can be solved by adopting the assistant catalyst WO3, controlling the ammonia escape rate of SCR system, the temperature of reactor, and the yield of SO3, optimizing the soot blowing approach of the air preheater, and improving the material quality for low-temperature heating surfaces.

The abnormal damage of combustion component is found to be caused by huge combustion pulsation resulted from great fluctuation of caloric values due to complicated natural gas sources. To solve this problem, it is proposed to upgrade the combustion system into DLN2.6+, so as to make the gas turbine adapt to caloric value variation of current natural gases.

An introduction is being presented to the structure of combustion chamber and flame detector of a V94.3A gas turbine, and to the turbine parameter changes before and after turbine protection activation. Based on analysis, the flame detector failure is found to be caused by breakage of the quartz glass cover, which led to the burnout of flame detection probe and the missing of flame signals. Improvement measures are proposed from aspects of the flame detector structure, protection action logic and the operation management, etc.
