Setting steam distribution function of steam turbine by flow characteristic test can improve its control precision. To exactly calculate the main steam flow, not only the first stage temperature but also the first stage pressure should be considered. The concept of comprehensive opening of regulating valve is put forward. Taking the whole steam distribution structure as an object, a flow characteristic test method is designed, of which the effectiveness is proved by a 600 MW sub-critical unit.

To economize the oil consumption during ignition and stabilize low load combustion of W-flame boiler using tiny-oil ignition technology when nonflammable coal is burned, a series of cold modeling, hot and industrial tests have been carried out on the double cyclone burner. Test results show that tiny-oil ignition may be realized at cold state if combustion-supporting wind and multi-step ignition method are adopted; and with low-oil burner, boiler combustion can be stabilized at low load operation. Both of the burners may help to realize the objective of fuel saving.

Based on a positive-pressure direct-fired MPS medium-speed mill with cool primary air, the effect of following pulverizing parameters on fineness of lean and bituminous coal powder has been analyzed, such as the impeller speed of separator, mass ratio of air to coal and the hydraulic loading pressure, etc. Results show that at various speeds of impeller, the fineness of coal mixture (70% lean coal+30% bituminous coal) is relatively coarse, with a R90 difference of about 3%; at the same mass ratio of air to coal, the lean coal powder is finer than bituminous coal with also a R90 difference of about 3%; at a hydraulic pressure of 5-8MPa, the R90 difference lies in 1-5%, and the R90 of bituminous coal is higher than that of lean coal.

A mathematical model of finite element for membrane wall of a super-critical pressure boiler has been set up and a simulation on sectional temperature distribution has been carried out with ANSYS 10.0 software. Simulation results show that the highest temperature occurs at the fin end facing the flame along the whole membrane wall, which has a lowest value with the variation of fin thickness. For a 600 MW super-critical pressure boiler, there exists an optimum fin end temperature with the fin thickness in 7-9 mm

Type selection of fan configuration directly influences the operation and economic benefit of a thermal power plant. Reliability of single-train fan configuration for units of different capacities is discussed. A technical and economical comparison is made between single- and dual-train configuration of fans, of which the results may serve as a reference for determination of fan configuration for units of different capacities.

Based on real operation data of thermal power units, temperature and stress field of the steam turbine rotor are calculated by finite element method so as to analyze and determine the position of monitoring surface in the system. Low cycle fatigue life loss of rotor is calculated with a modified one-dimension thermal stress simplified equation. Considering the influence of high temperature creep on rotor life, an online monitoring model for life loss of turbine rotor is established, while an online monitoring system developed. Agreement results between simulation and actual operation data prove the system to be effective.

There are double requirements of both reducing operating cost and decreasing contaminant emission for power station boilers. A boiler combustion model has been obtained with the training of neural network based on combustion data collected, which can be used to forecast the NOx emission and combustion efficiency of the boiler with different combustion parameters. A reasonable balance point is found between high efficiency and low NOx emission of the boiler based on multi-objective optimization and operation data adjustment.

Hilbert-Huang transform is applied to fan vibration signal and a marginal spectrum is obtained. Eigenvector of vibration signal of wind turbines is constructed by taking energy ratio of fault bands in the marginal spectrum as elements. Faults such as wind turbine rotor misalignment and axis cracks are diagnosed by momentum method and BP neural network model improved by adaptive learning rate method. The results prove this fault diagnosis method to be effective.

In the light of the coordinated control system of CFB power unit, a genetic calculation will be adopted for optimizing multivariable PID control parameters. Combined with the advantages of both PID and fuzzy controls, a fuzzy adaptive PID control way is adopted to realize the real-time adjustment of the PID parameters based on continuous revision of PID parameters during load variations. A simulation test has been carried out against the model of the coordinated control system of CFB power unit. Test results show that better control effect can be obtained with this method.

The supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system of 1.25 MW wind farm is used to perform data acquisition and control for each wind turbine in the farm, which has the functions of start/stop control, operating status display, temperature history display and wind rose display. The system has also the remote login function which makes it possible for the user to remotely browse and control the operation conditions of the wind turbine. The way of real-time data collecting and sectional storage may help to raise the speed of data collection and the reliability of data storage, which therefore can meet the supervision & management requirement of wind farms.

To solve the problems of furnace vibration frequently occurring in a 420 t/h oil-fired boiler during early stages of operation, experimental tests has been carried out by changing the operating mode, oil pressure, oil amount and atomizing steam pressure of the oil burner, etc. Results show that the vibration can be reduced if the oil burner is put into operation one by one and the values of oil amount, oil pressure and oil-steam pressure difference are all kept high.

Properties of the petroleum tar burning in Carri 4 Power Plant, Sudan, have been described combined with the commissioning work of its 2×240 t/h CFB boilers purely burning petroleum tar. There is low sulfur content in the petroleum tar but with poor stability of firing and the trend of slagging, so there is no need to put any limestone into the furnace of boiler domestically designed & manufactured. Some problems have been analyzed like high carbon content in fly ash, too much slag leakage from air chamber and castable cracking in material-returning leg, for which countermeasures are put forward.

With the rise of environmental requirements on refuse incineration power plants, it‘s difficult to control NOx generated by refuse incinerators within relevant specifications only by low NOx combustion technology, so Selective Non-catalytic Reduction (SNCR) technology is used in the meantime. By the comparison of three commonly used methods to reduce NOx content, SNCR technology is found to be suitable for the current status in China for flue gas treatment. Technical process and equipment configuration of SCNR systems are introduced, while the consumption of reducing agent (urea) calculated with an example.
